Lakeland Builders Association (LBA) recognized builders and hard-working individuals that support the construction industry in Walworth County at the Home Showcase Quality Awards banquet, October 16, 2024 at Hawk’s View Golf Club, Lake Geneva.
Eight awards were presented to builders who participated in LBA’s 2024 Home Showcase, an online presentation of homes with 3D tours or linked photo galleries. One additional award was presented for workforce housing.
Fourteen Recognition of Quality certificates were presented to honor specific individuals or groups that have impacted the construction industry in Walworth County in five categories: education, community, government, building safety/standards and builder recognition of staff or contractors.

Education
LBA strives to have partnerships with local educators and has two school districts that have been exceptionally responsive. The programs within their districts are focused, meaningful and growing.

Building Safety/Standards
In Wisconsin, the Uniform Dwelling Code sets minimum standards for new dwellings in areas such as fire safety, structural strength, energy conservation as well as heating, plumbing and electrical systems. Building inspectors are important part of the construction process.

Tourism employees often struggle to find housing in a resort community and Walworth County is no exception. LBA recognized a local resort for their quality commitment to their staff with the temporary housing constructed on their property.

Judging
Categories were established based on the homes that entered the LBA Home Showcase. A panel of judges from three area home builder associations was created. The winners were selected based on the association votes. The People’s Choice Award was an online campaign where daily votes were tallied from Sept 3-28. Each category had a minimum of two homes in each category.
